Please see this important information regarding the new HMS building. The building of HMS can not move forward unless this new bill is passed by Governor Bruce Rauner.
Who: Anyone concerned with the HMS Project
What: Your call to Governor Bruce Rauner (217-782-0244) or email is needed to pass a bill concerning the HMS Referendum
Why: After the Referendum notice was posted “3 Days Too Early,” (a mistake made by the Election Commission, not D181), Senate Bill 3319 house floor amendment 3 to Amend the Elections Code was created and has passed in both Houses . Here is what it says:
January 10, 2017 Senate Bill 3319, house floor amendment 3 to Amend the Elections Code
Amends the Elections Code. Provides that notice of a public question shall be valid if given more than 30 days but not more than 35 days prior to the general election held on November 8, 2016 that otherwise qualifies with the requirements of the Code. Effective immediately.
The amendment won’t be effective until Governor Rauner actually signs it. It has been on his desk since January 19th after a 9 day journey to his desk. Every day counts and every day it sits and nothing is done, it is one day closer to a New HMS not getting built.
Please call him at: 217-782-0244
Or if you choose to email him, send Governor Bruce Rauner an email at on this website.
Click on “Voice An Opinion”, Select “Other” in the drop down box, and be sure to write RE: SB 3319 in the body of your email.
