From February 11-15, all District 181 schools will be participating in “D181 Unplugged,” a week-long initiative aimed at reducing screen time at school and at home.
We hope that as our students “unplug” from their devices that they feel a deeper connection to the world around them and are proud of their achievement. The students will be signing the pledge at school with their teachers and classmates.
To support this effort, there are several community activities scheduled next week that are open to all. You can find details on these as well as other screen-free fun ideas in the link below.
At Oak, we will also be holding a raffle for teacher-hosted parties centered around a screen-free theme (see the link below)! Students will be given tickets and enter their names at school.
We hope this week brings increased awareness to screen usage and creates fun memories for families.
