PTO Committee Descriptions
The Oak PTO has many committees that work hand-in-hand with school staff to create a love of life-long learning. The committees enhance a student and family's experience within the school community. Committee volunteers strive for continued excellence in student learning, parent fundraising, and community building.
ARTSONIA
This committee collaborates with the art teacher to showcase students’ artwork on the Artsonia website. Parents can view their child's art online and have the option to purchase items featuring the artwork.
BIKE RODEO (3rd grade parent volunteers)
This committee organizes both the Bike Rodeo and Walk to School Day. The Bike Rodeo, held in early fall, is designed for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students. Students learn essential bike safety skills and develop responsible riding habits.
BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS
This committee works with the Principal to celebrate students' birthdays throughout the year.
BLAH BUSTER
A family fun indoor festival held at Oak, during the winter, to boost moods and bust the blahs! Volunteers are always needed to assist with planning, set-up, games and activities. It is one of the most memorable nights of the year for Oak students and families.
BOOK FAIR
This committee works hand-in-hand with the Library/MRC director to plan and execute the school book fair. Typically held twice per year: fall and spring. Oak works directly with a local small business, Anderson's Bookshop, to select which books, toys, and gifts to sell at the fair. Proceeds benefit the Oak Library/MRC.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH COMMITTE
This committee arranges two schoolwide volunteer events on location at Feed My Starving Children.
CULTURE FAIR
This committee plans and executes an event highlighting a variety of countries, including a talent show and flag parade. Every other year, the committee hosts a Culture Fair to highlight the multicultural community that we call home. It is an extraordinarily enriching event that is both educational and fun. Students have the unique opportunity to showcase their culture and heritage among their classmates. Children can also represent any country in the world that they have visited. The next Culture Fair will be during the 2026-2027 school year.
DAD'S CLUB
The name of the club says it all. Organized and attended by the dads of Oak School.
