Oak School Book Fair THIS WEEK!!


Directly benefits Oak School Library!


WHERE: The Oak School MRC/library

WHEN:

  • Wed. Oct. 12 - Thurs Oct. 13, 8:45 am – 4:45 pm
  • Fri. Oct. 14 - 8:45 am – 3:30 Pm

WHO:

  • K-5 classes visiting Wednesday- Thursday. Students will bring home wishlists!
  • Parents- Shop after school!
  • Grandparents, aunts, uncles- SHOP ONLINE!! Abcfairs.com or at Anderson’s in person! Just mention Oak.
  • Preschooler parents- if you send in money, an aide will take your child to the fair. You can also shop after school!
                                       NO TAXES on items purchased AT Oak school.

WHAT:

  • Books for PK-Adult
  • Holiday Gifts
  • Donate books for Oak Birthday celebrations. *
  • Donate books from Teacher wish lists. 


*Each Oak student is invited to choose a book on his/her birthday. Time to fill up the book bin! Please consider donating a book to the book bin.

Great art is happening in the art room!!

The hallways are filled with Van Gogh and Pollack inspired artwork!

If you see the new, art teacher, Mrs. Quinn, please give her a warm welcome and a big Oak School HOOT!

  

  

  

Halloween Costume Drive

Kids Care Club is hosting a Halloween Costume Drive to support our friends at Willowbrook Corner.

Donations will be taken from October 3rd until the 14th.

A drop-off box will be located in the Oak School foyer.

Please take a look in your fall/Halloween boxes to see if you have any gently used Halloween costumes to donate!

Ring Pop Sales!

Kids Care Club is holding their first Ring Pop Sale!

After school - Friday, October 7

Ring Pops are $1 each!

This will help fund the service projects for the year!

There will be three tables stationed in front of the school.

PTO Membership Fees - $50 per family

The Oak School PTO promotes connections between school and home, provides timely communication, and presents many opportunities for parents to support and enhance the Oak School experience for the students, school community, and Oak families.

What does the PTO do?

The PTO supports the following:

Hootiegram- weekly email newsletter with important information and dates for Oak School events and activities.
Homeroom Representatives - 28 parent volunteers support homerooms, coordinate school to home communications and help plan homeroom events (i.e. holiday parties, special occasions, teacher gifts, etc.)
School Directory- updated annually and available online.
Community Speaker Series- provides programs and resources to help parents better understand the educational experience in our district and support the parenting of students in and out of the classroom
•PTO Website- information about current Oak School activities
Committees- support and run all 32 Oak School committees including Staff Appreciation, Blah Buster, Weekly Lunch-In, Parent/Child Events, Holiday Market, Welcome for new parents, Oak Parent Night, 5th Grade Events, Culture Night/International Fest, Science Fair, and Field Day.
Enrichment- provides afterschool programs for students K-5 at school
Angel Fund- family assistance to defray additional costs of school.

We have 216 parent volunteers who comprise our Oak School executive board committees and room parents. We work together to make Oak School and our community the best for our students. Your contribution to the PTO determines whether school events happen. To date, 61% of Oak families have paid the annual dues of $50 per family. We would love to get to our goal of 100% participation.

WALK TO SCHOOL DAY!

National Walk & Bike to School Day

is a day that students and parents across D181 come together. This event, done annually in District 181, helps bring attention to children to live an active lifestyle while it also helps bring awareness to the community to help create the safest paths to school possible. 

This year’s event will be held on Wednesday, October 12.

We look forward to seeing as many of you participate in as safe a manner as possible!
