D181 Foundation Community Speaker Series: 2025-2026

Announcing the Community Speaker Series lineup for the 2025-2026 season! We are thrilled to welcome these top experts to our community this school year. Our first event is on Wednesday, October 8 at 7:15 p.m. at Hinsdale Middle School: Ethan Kross, Ph.D. - Shift: Managing Emotions So They Don’t Manage You. Register here.

 

The Community Speaker Series is committed to fostering a sense of community through hosting in-person and virtual events that inform and inspire. CSS is funded jointly by District 86 and District 181 and is supported by the D181 Foundation. Our events are free and open to the public. We encourage everyone to join our events, connect and learn together.

CHECKLIST

1. Complete the Bicycle Registration form and return to your child's teacher before 9/16.

3. Sign-Up to Volunteer at the Bike Rodeo

 

After School: Students should walk their bikes and meet on the blacktop, behind the school, immediately after school.

During the Bike Rodeo: Parents can stay and younger children may play on the playground during the event. Once your child has completed the Bike Rodeo, they may leave the event. Parents are encouraged to attend the event.

Halloween Costume Drive: Mon., Sept 22 - Tues., Sept. 30

Donate New or Gently Used Halloween Costumes

The Kids Care Club is accepting donations of new or gently used Halloween costumes through Tuesday, September 30. Donations are given to Willowbrook Corner Coalition, a collection of several community agencies focused on improving the quality of life of residents in the Willowbrook Corner neighborhood. Donation bins will be located in the foyer of Oak School.

SAVE THE DATE: Saturday, November 15! Let's kick off the season of giving this year at Feed My Starving Children in Aurora! Oak School & Elm School families and friends will pack life-saving meals for families-in-need around the world. Together we can make a difference! Details and sign-up link will be sent in October.

Homework Helpers - with High School Volunteers

Looking for someone to help your kids with math or reading or just to sit with them while they work on homework? Getting help from high school students is FUN! Kids in grades K-5 can drop in during the Hinsdale Public Library's Homework Helper sessions every THURSDAY 4-6 p.m. to receive help from trained high school volunteers! Students will earn prizes each time they attend. Hosted by the HPL Junior Advisory Board.
